Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchens in Forest Hills and Little Forest Hills sit in houses built anywhere from the 1920s to the 1940s, and in plenty of them the cabinet wood is genuinely good while the color and sheen belong to another decade entirely.

Sometimes we just want a change, and new kitchen cabinets can be very expensive. We love giving our guys an excuse to leave the building and we’ll come out to your home to give your kitchen a whole new look! Maybe your kitchen cabinets are too light, and you want them darker. Or, maybe they need to be updated? A new stain, some new hardware, and you have yourself an amazing transformation! Which ever kitchen cabinet refinishing look you are going for, we know you will be pleased!

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about furniture refinishing in White Rock Lake / Forest Hills.

Do you come out to the house, or do the cabinets have to leave?

Both, in the right order. The boxes are refinished in place, usually 1 to 2 days of in-home work, and the doors and drawer fronts come to our shop for stripping, color and finish. Whole-kitchen jobs typically wrap in about two weeks.

My house is from the 1930s and the kitchen has been redone since. Can you tell what I have?

Send photos. Solid wood and real-wood-veneer cabinets refinish beautifully. Plastic laminate or thermofoil over particleboard cannot be refinished, and it is not always obvious from across the room, so we would rather look before quoting.

Can you take dark 1990s cabinets to a lighter, brighter kitchen?

We can change tone, go darker, or move to paint, plus antique, faux, whitewash and pickling looks in sheens from matte through satin. We cannot stain lighter than the natural wood underneath, so a genuinely lighter kitchen usually means going to paint.

Is refinishing worth it in an older house?

Frequently, yes. Cabinetry in older East Dallas homes is often better built than a mid-range replacement would be, and refinishing keeps the proportions and the character of the room while costing a fraction of new. Every kitchen gets its own detailed estimate.
